What is Povidone Iodine?

What is the feature of PVP I?
PVP I is slightly odorous, easily soluble in water or ethanol, the aqueous solution is acidic, and insoluble in ether, chloroform, acetone, ethane and carbon tetrachloride. What is the relationship between PVP and PVP-I?
